"This Joint Communication aims to forge a stronger, modern and non-exclusive partnership with the countries of Central Asia so that the region develops as a sustainable, more resilient, prosperous, and closely interconnected economic and political space. It will build upon the lessons learnt from EU engagement in the region, take into consideration other relevant strategies including the Global Strategy for the European Union's Foreign and Security Policy , the New European Consensus on Development , the EU Strategy on Connecting Europe and Asia and EU Strategy on Afghanistan , and be guided by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ."
