Abstract: The talk will discuss BP supported PPP initiatives in Azerbaijan that reflect the evolution from exclusiveness to inclusiveness. What started as an effort to enhance workforce nationalization and local content in Azerbaijan`s oil & gas sector has gradually evolved into contributing to creating an in-country educational and entrepreneurship ecosystem and overall business enabling environment. This evolution is driven by the changes in the country`s development needs and demonstrates the ability of business to align with those changes.
Biography: Bakhtiyar has 25 years of professional experience in the energy sector and has held number of leadership roles across external affairs, strategy, communications, social performance, tax and customs, ethics and compliance as well as business services. In addition to professional activities, Bakhtiyar is also a visiting lecturer on Energy Geopolitics and Political Economy of Energy at the Baku State University, ADA University and Baku Higher Oil School. He is the author of one book and more than 50 professional articles and commentaries. He holds MSc in International Relations from Baku State University. In 2017, Bakhtiyar was awarded the ’Progress’ medal by the President of Azerbaijan for his significant contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry in the country.
