Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, Vice President, BP (Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia)
on 'Energy resources of Azerbaijan and export of Caspian energy resources to Europe'
Biography:
Since August 2015, Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli is BP’s Vice President for Communications & External Affairs, Strategy and Region covering Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. Mr. Aslanbayli joined BP from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2002 as a Tax Advisor, later on Tax Complince and Reporting Team Leader continiously expanding his scope and area of responsibilities in BP. In his most recent role he was Regional Tax and Customs Manager for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey responsible for all tax and customs related issues in the region, including tax support to the Southern Gas Corridor.
Mr. Aslanbayli is also a Lecturer of the Baku State University and Adjunct Instructor at ADA University in Azerbaijan. His main areas of expertise are the security, energy geopolitics and fiscal aspects of the energy projects. He has been lecturer at Harvard Black Sea Security Program in 2014 and 2015 as well as frequent speaker at various international conferences on energy geopolitics, protection of critical energy infrastructure, national and regional security issues.
Mr. Aslanbayli is the author of one book and more than 50 professional articles and commentaries. He holds BA and MA in International Relations from the Baku State University and is currently PhD researcher at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Mr. Aslanbayli was awarded with Progress Medal by the President of Azerbaijan (2017) for contribution to the development of oil and gas industry in Azerbaijan.
