29 April-1 May Research in Action Workshop: British Management University, Tashkent

The international conference on research capacity building for researchers, was organised at British Management University, Tashkent in collaboration with Cambridge Central Asia Forum, Jesus College, University of Cambridge and Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, 29 March -1 April 2024, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Conference covered major initiatives on History, Economic Development, Governance, Research Integration, and Human Capacity Building, and Education. A particular emphasis of this conference was on policy and science related to Critical Minerals for solving grand challenges of energy and climate change, but the subject was broad and included concerns like climate change, digital connectivity and such in the geography of Eurasia.

The workshop concept has already attracted leading specialists in the relevant scientific and practical disciplines. Cambridge Central Asia Forum, Jesus College, University of Cambridge, British Management University, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, as the organising parties, have the main aim to create a regional hub and network of excellence in interdisciplinary research capacity building.  Key partners included Navoi State Mining University and Contemporary History Centre of Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. The full range of expertise, from academic research to in-service research capacity training, is of critical importance to a vibrant reform process underway in the Central Asia region.
