China Centre, Jesus College invites you to a talk on

'New silk roads and new citadels: the dragon, the crescent and the mousedeer'

by

Tan Sri A. Mokhtar

Azman Mokhtar’s lecture will give an investment practitioner's perspective on China in an era of new trade routes and new trade walls, with special emphasis from the Islamic world and South East Asia.  The lecture will be followed by Q&A.

Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar is currently the Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Development Studies, University of Cambridge. From 2004 to 2018, he was the CEO of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Malaysia's premier Sovereign Wealth Fund, trebling the assets under management to USD40bn during that period. A significant part of the gains came from investing in China in the period 2006 to 2018. Prior to Khazanah, he was the Head of Research for UBS and Salomon Smith Barney in Malaysia.

Azman Mokhtar graduated with distinction with an M. Phil in Development Studies from Cambridge University as a Chevening scholar, is a CFA charter holder, a chartered accountant and a holder of a diploma in Islamic Studies. He is also currently a member of the Global Future Council on Investing of the World Economic Forum and a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Ethical Finance Initiative.

We warmly invite you to join us for this seminar.
