Biography: His Excellency Mr Masud Khalifazoda is the Ambassador of the
Republic of Tajikistan to the United Kingdom since November 2018. He
began his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001. His first
appointment abroad in 2007 was as First Secretary of the Embassy of
Tajikistan in the People’s Republic of China. He was assigned to
Tajikistan’s Embassy in the United States in 2008. He has worked in the
Department of International Organisations at the MFA in Tajikistan. As
Counsellor in his country’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva and
Embassy to Switzerland, HE Khalifazoda worked with the UN Human Rights
Council, UNCTAD and UNECE. He was also a
member of Tajikistan’s negotiation team for entry into the WTO. As
Deputy Head of the Consular Department at the Foreign Ministry he was
appointed as project manager of two important projects: E-visa and
E-gate. Tajikistan was the first country in Central Asia to launch an
E-visa system on 1 June 2016, and has been recognised as having one of
the world’s top five best electronic visa application systems. He
studied at Moscow State University, Faculty of Regional studies.
